Prayer before voting

I took a quick (very un-scientific) poll yesterday at the Masses to see who has already voted and most of the people at Mass had already voted. Here is a prayer from the USCCB a prayer to be prayed before an election. If you had gone to the USCCB site on Faithful Citizenship before you hopefully would have seen it already. I thought I would just post it again, as well as a link to our homily series from this summer). Peace

Lord God,
as the election approaches,
we seek to better understand the issues and concerns that confront our city, state, and country,
and how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens in our community.
We ask for eyes that are free from blindness
so that we might see each other as brothers and sisters,
one and equal in dignity,
especially those who are victims of abuse and violence, deceit and poverty.
We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children unborn and those abandoned,
men and women oppressed because of race or creed, religion or gender.
We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the voice of leaders who will bring us closer to
your Kingdom.
We pray for discernment
so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word,
live your love,
and keep in the ways of your truth

These pirates attacked Dallas

Here are two young pirates who brought in quite a haul in Dallas...more about that after the photos.

I guess one of the perks of living in Dallas is that when you knock on a door you never know who will be inside that house...none other than FLOTUS Laura Bush. They had a short discussion of the upcoming election and then that pirate was off to get more booty! Speaking of that booty, when these little pirates got home the stash at home for the other kids ran out, so these two pirates decided to share all of their candy with those who came looking for candy, what great little sharers.
