Sub-Committee

As some of you might have read (here , here and here) the Archdiocese is looking at long range planning, they formed a committee and then sub-committees. Well guess which one I am on? That is right, Stewardship now titled Discipleship. We meet about twice a month and our work gets combined with the other sub-committees and hopefully we will be planning well for the future of the Archdiocese. Here are some photos from out last meeting. I know it looks pretty low energy but I forgot to get the camera out until late in the meeting. Also since I took the photos so late I missed getting photos of others who were at the meeting, namely Fr. Eric Hill and Fr. Fred Wendel, sorry guys.

It was moved, but just in case

St. Patrick's day was moved to last Friday, as most of you know. But just in case you didn't and need a St. Patrick's day song, this is for you. Enjoy

The Last Service

Last Thursday was the last penance service of the Lenten season. It was held at St. Theresa in Douglasville. Lots of sinners and lots of priest so it was a great night all around. It was an unusually light season as far as penitents goes, maybe because Lent came so soon after Advent. Who knows, but it is over. On towards the Chrism Mass (Tuesday at 5pm at the Cathedral) and then Triduum...oh Joy!

It is here!

It is here and I am a happy man...more later!

Hello all and those from Owosso

Just a quick post. I have put some new stuff in the side bar -> over there-> and I have been seeing some familiar towns. But I am just wondering who is from Owosso Michigan? I kind of know where the others are coming from, but that one I cannot place. Any help? Drop me a line or leave a comment so all can know. Thanks to you all for stopping by. Peace

They need some reading lessons...

Lenten pick me up: Part the Next

I picked this up off of Vox-Nova, where it was a cross-post from The Catholic Blues. So enjoy it. It has some nice writings from Pope Benedict XVI and his encyclical Spe Salvi. It also includes the Stations of the Cross. The music is from The Psalters. Enjoy this and your Lenten journey.

LOLCats Lent

I just knew they were going to get around to this on some level. Well here it is. Enjoy

Holy Land for Holy Week

Well my mom is off to the Holy Land for a two week pilgrimage. She has always wanted to go to the Holy Land, so you can imagine how excited she wast to be finally going. Just keep her and her group in your prayers. Thanks

Not sure what to make of this...

If it is real, then it is really sad. If it is not real, then it is incredibly funny. What do you think? I post this assuming it is not real, if I find out it is real I will pull this.

How would you react to this?

This video has been out for a long time. It is pretty funny. I would like to think I would take it in stride, but who knows..??? How about you?

Worst Gold pants...EVVVAAR!

Enjoy???

Neat image

Dan Phiffer, has an interesting post about this image.

Left: All the water in the world (1.4087 billion cubic kilometres of it) including sea water, ice, lakes, rivers, ground water, clouds, etc. Right: All the air in the atmosphere (5140 trillion tonnes of it) gathered into a ball at sea-level density. Shown on the same scale as the Earth.

The Green's Strike Back

After all my post to Zachry, the Green family has responded, responded with some force I might add, silly Green family. Well thanks you are too much. Also if you want your photo on the blog, just get an orange and snap a photo, be creative as you like but keep it clean this is a kid friendly blog.

Wanna bet?

I must confess, I need to loose some weight. The few times I have been successful at keeping some weight off was when I had money and pride on the line. I was reminded of this the other day when talking with some friends. So the next day I heard this story was going to be on NPR, go listen to it I will wait...go on I will still be here. Done? Promise? Okay, so the next day Merlin Mann over at 43Folders put up a piece about the same story. Then my beloved Lifehacker posted about it as well. I just wish the Lord would be clear when he is trying to motivate me. So I have taken the hint. The stories are all about this site called, StikK. Basically it is a site that people make a bet and whatever the outcome is, StikK pays off the bet. This all revolves around prospect theory, and as I see it, I respond well to loosing things. So here is the deal: I would like to enter a bet with me as one side and anyone else as a whole on the other. Now I need to risk something, so lets say I will match up to $500.00 of my own money to be matched by others on the other side of this bet. Within the next week anyone who would like to enter this bet drop me a line or better yet post something in the comments and lets get this set up ASAP. Deacon Bill said he would hold the money (our own version of StikK). If I win the bet the money you put up will go to CRS. But, I will be open to you suggestions as to where my money will go if I loose the bet. Now the place needs to be something that you think would make me work harder--so that my money will not go to that cause or group. So let me know if you want to be part of the bet and where you think the money should go. Let me hear from you soon. I think we can have some fun with this. Peace!

Parish Photo Directory

We are in the midst of creating a new parish directory. It has been some time since we had a new one; only 4 years. Well the parish is a buzz with people coming in to get there photos taken. Here are some of the loyal blog readers in line for their photo.

DST staring back up

I love to play

I love to play. Games, race, just goofing off...I love to play. I frequently listen to Speaking of Faith with Krista Tippett on Sunday mornings when I am getting ready for Mass. I got sent a slide show about a polar bear, from a show from August 2007 dealing with Play, Spirit & Character. You can listen to the show from their site, a nice show. I remember listening it to it last year, so give it a listen in you like. My favorite show was the show about Money and Moral Balance, give it a listen. As for the show in general just know that I really enjoy listening to SoF, so if you hear it know that I am probably listening to it as well, we can enjoy it together. Peace

I have seen this guys site before and thought it was all sorts of science fun. I think this one is really fun. My niece has one of these EyeClops thingys and I thought it was all sorts of fun...too bad they did not have those when I was a kid (maybe it is not too late?) Enjoy the velcro.
