Run away! Run away!...Err...RETREAT (Part II)

Well, although it is icy and snowy and treacherous outside, I am venturing to the Ignatius House for my day of leading the soon-to-be-ordained men. Say some prayers for them and their family, and me and my journey. I will post some photos upon my return. Thanks. Peace

UPDATE: Now with photo goodness...enjoy!

Beauty-full

Ever seen this commercial?

Well it looks like someone tried to remake it in Rome as a protest. The commercial was beautiful but the protest, well...maybe?

This is a law my cats obey!

Funny Pictures

Font update...

Well, things are moving full steam ahead with the construction of the new font. Linda has the final on the mosaic and it looks wonderful. Here are a couple of photos of Bob and his pit. Enjoy

Thank you!

After the Court of Appeals luncheon, I had a meeting about an hour after the luncheon and about a mile away, so I found myself with some time to kill. So I stayed at the restaurant and worked a bit more on my Thank you cards for Christmas...so if you are waiting just know I send them out once they are all finished, so know that I am working on them and they should be in your mailbox soonly. Peace

Court of Appeals

I think some of you know that I work on the Provincial Court of Appeals here in the Archdiocese. Well yesterday we had our annual luncheon and it was some fun. Here are the exciting photos. (you will see: Archbishop Donoghue; Msgrs. "Doc" Kiernan, Gracz, Dora, and Frs. Hachey, Galier, Duffy Jowdy (looking quite serious mind you), and Meg Fortino [who is the Administrative Assistant, Ecelasial Notary] and others) Enjoy

Italian food and friends

I had dinner last night at my friends house. Dan and Kathy Giannini. You can see they are typical Italians (lots and lots of food, great leftovers). The photos below are but a few from a great night with friends. I especially like the quote from the back of one of Kathy's Italian cookbooks. For those who hear me speak of my Easter Family, this is them.

Concerns of our new font.

If you were concerned about the temperature of our new font, rest assured it will be warmer than this...brrrr. go here, here for more.

Uhhh..... NO

This only goes to prove why most priest would rather do 10 funerals than 1 wedding. Now I am not saying all brides are like this, but...Enjoy???

This is great

It is amazing what they can do with technology. Enjoy

This was mean...and kinda funny

They kids over at Gizmodo were having some fun at the Consumer Electronics Show this week. Well they used this TV-B-Gone from the fine folks at Make to cause some chaos. It was mean and fun all at the same time...guess it was kinda Schadenfreude, maybe. Enjoy?

Day Off

Nina's crepes in PTC...more later...mmmmmmm

UPDATE: Nina's Crepes in Peachtree City was nice. Go try them out, they are open from 10am-10pm. It was good stuff. Don't worry about its location, just think about the tasty food.

Further UPDATE: Well some astute reader (who remained nameless) pointed me to this ad, guess the place is for sale. Enjoy it while you can.

Run away! Run away!...Err...RETREAT

On Friday, I will leave for the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, in Conyers to give a retreat for the wives of the men who will be ordained to the Deaconate in February. I will be back in the parish on Saturday afternoon. On a similar note, I will be at the Ignatius House next Thursday to give a day of retreat for the soon to be Deacon's. You might or might not know that my mom, was the Wives Coordinator for the Deacons of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City for many years. She has always encouraged me to be aware of the wives and what they go through, so I am happy to be the retreat director for the wives this weekend and their husbands next week. I mention all of this to solicit your prayers for these women, men, families, and parishes as they approach ordination on the 8th of February. Thanks

Update: Now we have photos...

New Font

Well, I showed you the looks of the old font and the mold, yuck to mold. Anyway we are moving right along with the new font and a couple of weeks ago I asked the parishioners to vote on which tile they liked for a trim piece in the font, we still have not made a final decision on that, so more info on that later. Just so you are aware I am going to post of bit of what the new font will look like.

We are going to have a cruciform baptismal font. It will be quite substantial, 10'x10', it will be able to accommodate a full immersion Baptism of an adult. It should be quite nice, and I am really looking forward to it. Bob Imsand, a parishioner is constructing it for us. So some more about it. In two of the arms of the cross there will be steps descending in the main section of the font. On the center arm of the font the following will be done in a mosaic.

I know that is not the best photo, but it is the best I could do. Anyway the colors will be vibrant and the cross will be done in gold. It should look great. The design is done such that which ever side of the font you are on the mosaic will be right side up. It was done by Linda McCarrey of our parish.
As of today Linda and Bob are getting the mosaic tile order put together while Bob continues to move right along with the rest of the construction progress. Well there is some information for you, if you have further questions let me know, I will try to answer them as soon as I can. Peace

Car that runs on compressed air? YES

I doubt we will see this any time soon in the US, but I would love the cost per mileage ratio for this car. Enjoy

It was the mold (and worms)

Well this past week our beautiful font (seen below) was taken out. What you cannot see in this photo is the mold that was coming through the tiles around the base of the font.

But here in these following photos you can. These photos were taken during the demolishing of the font. As you can see the mold (and those are worms) were all over the place. It was in a section of the font that we isolated about a year ago, so it was not actually in the water source for the font, but it was clearly eating away at the structure of the font...which was unacceptable, and the reason we needed to get a new font. Now that the old font is out we are working on getting the new font in by Easter, more updates to come. Peace

I would love this...

I think I would do well with this driving system. I think it would be some fun to try driving like this...it certainly takes us out of our Northern European mindset as regards to rules. Enjoy

I'm Back

Well I survived the crazy seas (big wind storm as we left Grand Cayman...not many people up and about, most in bed wishing for calmer weather). It was a nice time to be away, but always nice to be home. The cats were happy when I came through the door. I pick up Rosie tonight and Rocky is coming to stay for a few days as well. Anyway I am glad to be back. Peace

Not much new for a while

I am going to take a few days off this week and get some rest so I will not be making another post until my return on Jan 5. Until then know that you will be in my prayers. Peace

UPDATE:: Well had a few questions this morning about this post so here some more... I am right now headed to Tampa and will be taking a cruise for 5 nights. Fr. Luke Ballman will be celebrating the HDOO Mass on Monday evening. Thanks Luke. I forgot my camera (and all I did to get a new one and easy to travel with...arggghhhh) but I did remember the batery charger for the camera, darn. Anyway, now I am off and will see you all Saturday evening at Mass. Peace

This was the scene at my house as I packed...treat the cats well Charles!

This is fun

This is a great video. I am sure it took some time for him to get to this level. Try to guess which song he is singing before the half way of the video, because at that point it will happen backwards and you will know it from the first bar. Let me know if you are able to figure it out. Enjoy.

The LOLCats made sure to put up a few picts for Christmas, here are the best. Enjoy

Midnight Mass

Well we bucked the growing trend of having Midnight Mass earlier than Midnight (I heard one parish was having their midnight Mass at 9:30 PM...whaaaaa???) Here are some photos of our Midnight Mass 2007...Enjoy

h/t to the Ngoddy Family for taking the photos.

Christmas Eve Dinner?

Well for the Gelbach, Gilbert, Peters and Gorski families, Nikko Japanese Restaurant in Tyrone was Christmas eve dinner. Looks like they had a bundle of fun...look at that fire...WOW. I remember when I was a kid, we always went to Shogun in OKC for my birthday, guess that is what made me so interested in the Japanese culture. Merry Christmas

Decorating for Christmas

Well, considering the number of people and time it takes to decorate we had to do it on the 23rd (note of apology to the Hispanic community for having to celebrate 4th Sunday in Advent with all the Christmas stuff up)...anyway after the 11AM Mass we had a group of people move the Christmas Tree into the Sanctuary and then the task of having it stand up--straight-ish. Also the rest of the Sanctuary was decorated as well. Here are the photos...oh and for Peter C., here is the photo of you as promised.

Oh, the tree is 21feet tall and Deacon Bill says he wants a bigger one next year...everyone else told DB, he can do it all by himself then. More pictures later. Peace
