I know the feeling

Does reading my blog make you feel something like this is a good response?

DMCA?

Do you know what the DMCA is? Well on some levels it seems like something great, but deep down it becomes more of big business making money and limiting you and your rights to things you own. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has loads and loads on privacy and rights, I would encourage you to go read so of their stuff. At times DMCA seems to be a bit confusing, so here is a good slide show explaining how crazy DMCA is...enjoy? click on image to see slide show

Advent Day of Reflection...Part II

The reflections today were provided by my former Rector, Fr. Thomas Acklin, OSB. (who is also an author) It was a wonderful day, here are some photos from the day. Enjoy.

Why I dis-like Mega-lo-mart

Ok I know Mega-lo-mart is not real but I do not want to say the other company name here, so...
Next time you think the other mart is so great, remember Deborah Shank, and the people behind the mart. What ever happened to TG&Y, and the halcyon days of my youth.

here is how you say it...

Abominable as in abominable snowman. Also this a great site for helping you find out how to pronounce a word in the English language, go check it out. Enjoy

This guy needs a new hobby

This is ingenious

Busy Saturday

You probably saw my earlier post about seeing the Archbishop at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council on Saturday, well it was quite a Saturday for yours truly. Here is a run down:

10 AM Teach Deacon Class
11:45 AM headed downtown for Archdiocesan Pastoral Council
12:15-2:30ish for APC and a few conversations afterwards
3pm to the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children to see some of our Parishoniers working at the shelter that day.
4:15pm for confessions then Mass
8pm home from dinner...and the end to a nice long day...here are some photos enjoy!

Oh and as I was at the Archdiocese for my meeting I saw this. Remember it was not even the First Sunday of Advent yet...blergh!

World AIDS Day

As many of you know December 1st is World AIDS Day. I went to Emory where they had the AIDS Memorial Quilt on display. It was quite moving. I was not sure how to process it all...suffice it to say I was moved and heartbroken. There were all sorts of panels of many lives lost, here are a few photos I took.

This is Dr. Julie Gerberding from the CDC giving a speech.

This is one of the many quilt panels that are representative of a life lost to AIDS.

You can see here just a few of the many quilts on display
Many lives lost to AIDS some of the panels are quite dramatic, probably as the dramatic as the lives lost.

All types of people, young, old, straight, gay, married, single, preppy and as you see above Star Trek geeks as well.

Some of the panels were great expressions of people lives, all of them touching.

One I found was blank (save a couple of stitches in the bottom corner) I was not sure what to make of it. I chose to see it as a life that has left a blank spot in the lives of many.

I was touched deeply by the display of the quilts. I was also reminded that this was only a small section of the world affected by HIV/AIDS. Let us keep all people directly affect by HIV/AIDS in our prayers. Peace

Day off!

This me in day off mode this past Friday. I ate breakfast at Radial, twice in one week...anyway I read the paper, played the sudoku, and ate a breakfast burrito and shared some red velvet pancakes, delicious! If you ever want to go try this with me let me know we can go...your treat of course.
