Not much new for a while

I am going to take a few days off this week and get some rest so I will not be making another post until my return on Jan 5. Until then know that you will be in my prayers. Peace

UPDATE:: Well had a few questions this morning about this post so here some more... I am right now headed to Tampa and will be taking a cruise for 5 nights. Fr. Luke Ballman will be celebrating the HDOO Mass on Monday evening. Thanks Luke. I forgot my camera (and all I did to get a new one and easy to travel with...arggghhhh) but I did remember the batery charger for the camera, darn. Anyway, now I am off and will see you all Saturday evening at Mass. Peace

This was the scene at my house as I packed...treat the cats well Charles!

This is fun

This is a great video. I am sure it took some time for him to get to this level. Try to guess which song he is singing before the half way of the video, because at that point it will happen backwards and you will know it from the first bar. Let me know if you are able to figure it out. Enjoy.

LOLCats love Christmas

The LOLCats made sure to put up a few picts for Christmas, here are the best. Enjoy

Midnight Mass

Well we bucked the growing trend of having Midnight Mass earlier than Midnight (I heard one parish was having their midnight Mass at 9:30 PM...whaaaaa???) Here are some photos of our Midnight Mass 2007...Enjoy

h/t to the Ngoddy Family for taking the photos.

Christmas Eve Dinner?

Well for the Gelbach, Gilbert, Peters and Gorski families, Nikko Japanese Restaurant in Tyrone was Christmas eve dinner. Looks like they had a bundle of fun...look at that fire...WOW. I remember when I was a kid, we always went to Shogun in OKC for my birthday, guess that is what made me so interested in the Japanese culture. Merry Christmas

Decorating for Christmas

Well, considering the number of people and time it takes to decorate we had to do it on the 23rd (note of apology to the Hispanic community for having to celebrate 4th Sunday in Advent with all the Christmas stuff up)...anyway after the 11AM Mass we had a group of people move the Christmas Tree into the Sanctuary and then the task of having it stand up--straight-ish. Also the rest of the Sanctuary was decorated as well. Here are the photos...oh and for Peter C., here is the photo of you as promised.

Oh, the tree is 21feet tall and Deacon Bill says he wants a bigger one next year...everyone else told DB, he can do it all by himself then. More pictures later. Peace

I seriously doubt it really happened like this...

With all the talk of the Archbishop of Canterbury and his words about the Nativity, I do not think he is way off base but could have been put better, but none the less (Todd @ Catholic Sensibility has a good piece about it). As you know his name is Rowan Williams, not to be confused with Rowan Atkinson (or as many of you know Mr. Bean). Well here is a idea of what the latter thinks The Nativity was like. Enjoy

Green family

Remember that I said I went to the west coast rapidly? Well I left Sunday afternoon and got back Monday evening...I flew ATL-SLC-PSP-SLC-LAS-ATL, it was a cheap MR to earn GM for 2008. I was able to spend time on Sunday with my sister Angela Green and her family (also delivered Christmas gifts), when flying through Salt Lake. On Monday when flying through SLC on my way home I had breakfast with Angela and got to see her new house and pick up some bread from the Great Harvest Bread Company. Then back to the airport and home. Anyway enjoy the photos of those cute Green kids.

New Green House

Here is the slide show of the new house that the Green family will be moving into in January.

And that was that...

Tonight was the last Penance service of the season. It was held at St. Theresa in Douglasville. That was that and not too worse for the wear. None of the services were too long and this Advent saw the fastest Penance service in recent memory at Holy Trinity. Anyway here are some photos from just after dinner tonight as we headed to celebrate with the people.

Remember those two posts?

Well many of you know that I have two posts on my driveway...well make that one. With the lack of rain in Georgia, well it seems as some are needing help learning to drive with slick roads and well...here are the photos.

Everyone was okay, the driver was a bit shaken-up, and her mom was not in a good mood when arriving on the scene. The post got knocked about 20feet, must have been some sight. The car was able to drive off, mostly body damage. Anyway, it was some fun and the end of the driveway, Rosie was not sure what to make of all the people at then end of her drive. Oh well...

Happy Birthday Deacon Bill

Deacon Bill turned 61 on the 19th of December. His dutiful wife (and his sister and his lovely daughter Beth Anne) were at the Georgia Shrimp Company in Peachtree City when Deacon Bill and I finished the finance council meeting, so we went down to eat with them. Once there the three ladies left just as our food arrived...not so loving to the birthday boy, but they said they were tired and I was still there with him. Happy Birthday Decca. Here are the photos...

O' Key of David!

Happy Birthday Sally Peters

Well December 19 is the Birthday of Sally Peters, and Deacon Galye being the dutiful husband took his bride out for breakfast, to the Waffle House!...how chivalrous, no? Happy Birthday Sally

You see the strangest people...

...at my Waffle House!

Man I love these guys, getting up early yesterday to have breakfast with me before an exceedingly long day of work. I agree is this not the best photo, but it was the best I was able to get...sorry guys.

Should have taken Advent off

I know a few bloggers that have taken Advent off...maybe I should have done that, but I did not. Well as you know it has been quite busy during Advent. I am getting flack from Jack G. who is a faithful reader, so I am going to stay up late tonight and post of few fun things. When I get the chance I will put up a few photos from my rapid trip to the west coast (more on that later). So here is my first fun thing: quite a video of a guy going nuts at a car wash, not sure what happened but it is not so good for that carwarsh...enjoy

Guadalupe

Today is the anniversary of my father's birth, he would have been 69 years old. But on a greater scale today is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Today can also go down in history for the first time I celebrated Mass & preached in Spanish (not much to write home about, but more than enough to blog about). The homily was the same text, first in Spanish and then in English, again it was not much but it felt like an eternity preaching. It seemed to go well--and by it I mean my massacre of the Spanish language (no it really means the liturgy). It was great to see the church full, lots of my Hispanic, Anglo, & African-American children were in attendance. What a truly blessed man I am. Here are some photos of the fun. Enjoy

h/t to Leon for most of the photos.

Calling Fr. Vic

Where are you???
Well it has been some week. Monday meetings all day downtown, then back for the Penance service at Holy Trinity. Tuesday, more meetings downtown, then back for our Penance service. Today, Wednesday, busy all day with meetings, and preparation for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It has been busy and tomorrow will not be much different, as I will be teaching all day at OLV. I will get a few post out there tonight, after signing about 650 letters to the parish. Enjoy

Sunday Night Dinner

These are my brothers. We try to have dinner every Sunday night. This Sunday we had dinner at The Hil, in Palmetto. This was my second time to The Hil...and it will not be my last. I especially reccomend the Chips and Vidalia Onion Dip (mmmmmm) as well as the Mushroom Pizza and the smashed potatoes. They boys had a great time and I am sure we will be back (if Fr. Bryan can find the place again).

Google Maps

Hey the Parish needs some help. If you go here, you will see that the marker for St. Matthew is just down the street...but Google now allows for edits to be made, which is why I need your help. If you have a Google account you would go and move the marker for the parish, please! I would really appreciate it. thanks

my priesteem is hurting, drat

OK so today we had the chance to beat St. Theresa's, the team we had a win against the Sunday I left for Europe and our fellow basement dwellers in the Basketball League (I need to tell you, because of full disclosure, we beat them because they did not have a full team to field)...OK on to today, WE LOST :( Here are the photos from the lost. h/t to Beth

Day off breakfast

Friday was a great day off...not much done at all. I think I am getting better in touch with myself as I take time off and just do no work (well almost no work), I would attribute it to my great Sunday off in Berlin. So I went to Cracker Barrel on Friday for breakfast. Here are three photos: me working on the Sudoku, the meal I was busy eating when I snapped a photo (all for you my dear readers), and the final photo of the solved sudoku (under 10 mins, no pencil marks and done).

I know the feeling

Does reading my blog make you feel something like this is a good response?

DMCA?

Do you know what the DMCA is? Well on some levels it seems like something great, but deep down it becomes more of big business making money and limiting you and your rights to things you own. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has loads and loads on privacy and rights, I would encourage you to go read so of their stuff. At times DMCA seems to be a bit confusing, so here is a good slide show explaining how crazy DMCA is...enjoy? click on image to see slide show
(warning, strong language in slide show, 18years and older only)

The reflections today were provided by my former Rector, Fr. Thomas Acklin, OSB. (who is also an author) It was a wonderful day, here are some photos from the day. Enjoy.

Advent Day of Reflection

Why I dis-like Mega-lo-mart

Ok I know Mega-lo-mart is not real but I do not want to say the other company name here, so...
Next time you think the other mart is so great, remember Deborah Shank, and the people behind the mart. What ever happened to TG&Y, and the halcyon days of my youth.

here is how you say it...

Abominable as in abominable snowman. Also this a great site for helping you find out how to pronounce a word in the English language, go check it out. Enjoy

This guy needs a new hobby

This is ingenious

Busy Saturday

You probably saw my earlier post about seeing the Archbishop at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council on Saturday, well it was quite a Saturday for yours truly. Here is a run down:

10 AM Teach Deacon Class
11:45 AM headed downtown for Archdiocesan Pastoral Council
12:15-2:30ish for APC and a few conversations afterwards
3pm to the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children to see some of our Parishoniers working at the shelter that day.
4:15pm for confessions then Mass
8pm home from dinner...and the end to a nice long day...here are some photos enjoy!

Oh and as I was at the Archdiocese for my meeting I saw this. Remember it was not even the First Sunday of Advent yet...blergh!
