This was mean...and kinda funny
They kids over at Gizmodo were having some fun at the Consumer Electronics Show this week. Well they used this TV-B-Gone from the fine folks at Make to cause some chaos. It was mean and fun all at the same time...guess it was kinda Schadenfreude, maybe. Enjoy?
Day Off
Nina's crepes in PTC...more later...mmmmmmm
UPDATE: Nina's Crepes in Peachtree City was nice. Go try them out, they are open from 10am-10pm. It was good stuff. Don't worry about its location, just think about the tasty food.
Further UPDATE: Well some astute reader (who remained nameless) pointed me to this ad, guess the place is for sale. Enjoy it while you can.

Run away! Run away!...Err...RETREAT
On Friday, I will leave for the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, in Conyers to give a retreat for the wives of the men who will be ordained to the Deaconate in February. I will be back in the parish on Saturday afternoon. On a similar note, I will be at the Ignatius House next Thursday to give a day of retreat for the soon to be Deacon's. You might or might not know that my mom, was the Wives Coordinator for the Deacons of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City for many years. She has always encouraged me to be aware of the wives and what they go through, so I am happy to be the retreat director for the wives this weekend and their husbands next week. I mention all of this to solicit your prayers for these women, men, families, and parishes as they approach ordination on the 8th of February. Thanks
Update: Now we have photos...
New Font
Well, I showed you the looks of the old font and the mold, yuck to mold. Anyway we are moving right along with the new font and a couple of weeks ago I asked the parishioners to vote on which tile they liked for a trim piece in the font, we still have not made a final decision on that, so more info on that later. Just so you are aware I am going to post of bit of what the new font will look like.
We are going to have a cruciform baptismal font. It will be quite substantial, 10'x10', it will be able to accommodate a full immersion Baptism of an adult. It should be quite nice, and I am really looking forward to it. Bob Imsand, a parishioner is constructing it for us. So some more about it. In two of the arms of the cross there will be steps descending in the main section of the font. On the center arm of the font the following will be done in a mosaic.

I know that is not the best photo, but it is the best I could do. Anyway the colors will be vibrant and the cross will be done in gold. It should look great. The design is done such that which ever side of the font you are on the mosaic will be right side up. It was done by Linda McCarrey of our parish.
As of today Linda and Bob are getting the mosaic tile order put together while Bob continues to move right along with the rest of the construction progress. Well there is some information for you, if you have further questions let me know, I will try to answer them as soon as I can. Peace

Car that runs on compressed air? YES
I doubt we will see this any time soon in the US, but I would love the cost per mileage ratio for this car. Enjoy
It was the mold (and worms)
Well this past week our beautiful font (seen below) was taken out. What you cannot see in this photo is the mold that was coming through the tiles around the base of the font.
But here in these following photos you can. These photos were taken during the demolishing of the font. As you can see the mold (and those are worms) were all over the place. It was in a section of the font that we isolated about a year ago, so it was not actually in the water source for the font, but it was clearly eating away at the structure of the font...which was unacceptable, and the reason we needed to get a new font. Now that the old font is out we are working on getting the new font in by Easter, more updates to come. Peace
