Ready to race!
Well I am at Lake Tugaloo for my biggest triathlon ever! I have ridden
the run course so I can see what I am in for in the morning. The swim
looks fine even though the water is way down. The bike should be a
challenge with all it's rolling hills! 1.5k swim. 42k bike. 10k run.
My time goal is 3 hours, I will let you know more tomorrow. Say a
prayer for me. Thanks. Peace.

This is painful
This is just sad. Makes my ears and eyes bleed. Maybe she should have just stuck with the funny dancing and bad acting. I am sure John Williams' is pained to watch this. You have been warned!

Today

Lots of posts up today. Here is a round up:
The Concord Pastor has a couple of good links up: here and here
The Deacon's Bench also has a few things up: here and here and here
And finally Rocco beat me to the punch of posting this prayer from the Pope when he visited Ground Zero in April. Peace
O God of love, compassion, and healing,
look on us, people of many different faiths
and traditions,
who gather today at this site,
the scene of incredible violence and pain.
We ask you in your goodness
to give eternal light and peace
to all who died here—
the heroic first-responders:
our fire fighters, police officers,
emergency service workers, and
Port Authority personnel,
along with all the innocent men and women
who were victims of this tragedy
simply because their work or service
brought them here on September 11, 2001.
We ask you, in your compassion
to bring healing to those
who, because of their presence here that day,
suffer from injuries and illness.
Heal, too, the pain of still-grieving families
and all who lost loved ones in this tragedy.
Give them strength to continue their lives
with courage and hope.
We are mindful as well
of those who suffered death, injury, and loss
on the same day at the Pentagon and in
Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Our hearts are one with theirs
as our prayer embraces their pain and suffering.
God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world:
peace in the hearts of all men and women
and peace among the nations of the earth.
Turn to your way of love
those whose hearts and minds
are consumed with hatred.
God of understanding,
overwhelmed by the magnitude of this tragedy,
we seek your light and guidance
as we confront such terrible events.
Grant that those whose lives were spared
may live so that the lives lost here
may not have been lost in vain.
Comfort and console us,
strengthen us in hope,
and give us the wisdom and courage
to work tirelessly for a world
where true peace and love reign
among nations and in the hearts of all.

It is a Coke folks!
Growing up everything was a 'coke' no matter if it was a Coke, Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper. Even here in Georgia it is mostly the same thing...except for those who come from other areas!?! Anyway this little graphic should help make sense of thing for you. Enjoy

which has been most of my problems. So I will get that fixed and that
should help. I am on my way home, after a waffle and eggs! See you
later and thanks for your prayers. Peace!
UPDATE: Can you tell I wrote this while I was still under the influence of the anesthesia???

Up way to early
Well you remember that I have had some reflux problems? Well this
morning I am off to get "scoped", what fun! Thank goodness it is just
going down my throat and no other direction. It should take me out of
service for the rest of the day. Keep a good thought for me. Peace.

Br. Elliott Maloney, O. S. B.
Br. Elliott was my scripture prof from St. Vincent. You can find his
name in your NAB if you go looking. He is in town for the week and we
are having dinner tonight with Frs. Small and Kingery at The Hil. A
photo of dinner will soon follow.

Recent Deaths
Well like I said it has been a busy week. One of the things that has been taking up some time has been the passing of two wonderful men. I just knew that this week that these two men's deaths were close. As I left Mass on Tuesday I asked the people at Mass to pray for Henry Schnittker & Wil "Bubb" Landry, that God's will might be done in their lives and hopefully a peaceful death. Well just after lunch on Tuesday I got the call that Henry had died. Thursday morning after Mass I asked the people gathered for Mass to pray for Bubb, since they had done such a God job of praying Henry to a peaceful death. Well I had planned to go see Bubb this morning, but the phone rang on my end before I could get down there. Of course the other end of the phone, just about half and hour after I had asked for prayers, had news that Bubb had died. Well it has been a rough road for both families, but Henry and Bubb are at peace and I think that comforts their families as well. So if you don't mind say a prayer for Henry and Bubb and thier families. Thanks!
Slow posting
Sorry about not doing much posting the past two weeks. It has been rather hectic with ministry, other work things for the Archdiocese, training for my upcoming races, dealing with 2 deaths etc...I will be trying to get a bit more out there as I can. Thanks for sticking by me! Peace

Did you know this?
I kinda knew that fortune cookies were invented here in the USA, but I did not know the depth of the story. Here is an amusing video of what happens when people in China get a fortune cookie handed to them for the first time. Quite amusing. This is a video from a story from the NYT found here and you should go check out another story here which will tickle you as well. Enjoy

Race
Well, it was a great race. I feel great and aside from a few spills it seemed as if everyone survived without much damage. The water had lots and lots of water grass which made most people look like the creature from the black lagoon! The bike course was great, even if it did start to rain. The run was my best ever...guess all that training for the marathon is paying dividends. My overall time was the best I have ever done. There were lots and lots of Catholics running this race, quite a few from St. Matthew. I think we should start our own Triathlon Club for Catholics (I am sure there is a clever name in there somewhere...) Anyway I am tired and gonna go soak in the ice and then get a naps. See you all soon. Thanks for the support and the prayers!
Reverse Graffiti
Environmental Graffiti has a great post up about 35 of the Best Reverse Graffiti of all time. This is some spectacular stuff. Here are two videos they have posted...really cool. Enjoy

Wheel of Fortune
I like this show quite a bit. When my dad was dying at home we watched it each night. I have friends (you know who you are) who watch this show more than they go to church, not that I am judging. Here are some clips that I found, well...

Easter Christmas
Last Sunday we went to our annual staff "Easter/Christmas Meal". We started doing it in the summer since it was always so busy around those feasts. It has worked out really well for us. We usually do dinner somewhere but decided that this year we would do a brunch. We want to go to The Hil (a great place by the way) for their brunch but they were closed for summer vacation. So we went to The Wahoo Grill (another wonderful place). They sat us outside under some coverings with the fans going full blast and shooting out a mist of water. The water was great but where I was seated it was more like a shower...oh the sacrifices I make. We all had a wonderful time and left with very fully (some said stuffed) bellies. The photos of the group gathered are below. Also below you will the the feet and people shots that I take. I have posted some here before but I need to do it more for you. Don't know why I do it but I have done it for a good while now and no plans on slowing down. Enjoy

The Birds!!!!
These guys/gals (???) showed up today and took rest on the cross. Kind of creepy and cool all at the same time. Rennie thinks they were turkey vultures.
Photos from a while ago
Remember when I went to Rhode Island to see Fr. Joe? When I had that great ice cream? Well here are some photos I took before I left the Church the morning I left. It was the day I was headed to Boston and then to Cape Cod? I posted this from the road? They were having a hot air balloon festival that weekend. It was a magical way to start the day. Enjoy

Question for you today
I really like this song. Do you know why one might think it is appropriate today? And why they would be wrong? A waffle is on the line. Enjoy
UPDATE: Well I think JB and I were going in the same direction on this question. However there were two other answers given that could work as well, however they were the wrong King Wenceslaus. So I will Officially declare it a tie and I will eat a waffle as my reward for making that judgement.

100 Push up challenge
So how are you doing? I did my test at the end of week #2 and did not do so well. So I am going to redo week #2, although at a higher level. I hope that I am able to do a bit better this week, we shall see. So lets hear how you are doing (especially if are related to me). Peace
Cheering Chinese style
I am sure you have been hearing the cheering at the Olympics, not just the cheering you are doing at home (FWIW I think they CAN hear you cheer all the way from here) but all the cheering from the crowds. Well there is an official way to cheer for and in China (does not surprise me) here is a video if you really want the full experience. Enjoy
